screenplays

To see the screenplays I’ve already filmed, check out the FILMS page.

Below, I’ll list scripts that I have written and script ideas I’ve had as well. If you are a filmmaker and any of them sound interesting to you, please feel free to contact me so we can start a conversation!

FINISHED BUT UN-FILMED

Here is a list of finished screenplays I’ve written that I’d like very much to see filmed some day.

THE DIMINISHED (Feature-length version)

Things get spooky when a woman goes home with a musician and meets his disturbed brother and the ghost who shares their home. This script has everything I couldn’t get around to filming for the 2019 short version. (Horror.)

CALLBACK (short, possibly developing into a feature)

Set in the cutthroat world of regional Shakespeare, a ruthless young actress will stop at nothing to play her dream role. But when the ghosts of her past catch up with her years later, she is confronted with the true ugliness of her deeds. This script has won multiple writing awards and nominations from festivals, including 13horror.com, Oregon ScreamWeek, and more. (Horror.)

HAND ME DOWN (short)

A rom-com about a tie-dyed shirt that goes through various owners and impacts various lives in the small town of Ashland, Oregon. (Romantic Comedy/Drama.)

SNOW REAPER: A LOVE STORY (two shorts that comprise a feature)

A whimsical fantasy love story about two grim reapers and their struggles with love. In part 1, the reaper of Violence falls in love with a homeless mortal who was destined to freeze to death, hiding her away from the icy clutches of the Snow Reaper, Cold. In part 2, Cold herself gets a love story as she becomes the object of affection for an adventurous mountain photographer who wants nothing more than to photograph her, no matter the cost. (Fantasy/Drama.)

TWO YOUNG MEN (short)

Two roommates get more than what they bargained for when they respond to a sketchy craigslist ad. When they find themselves locked in a dark room with no food, no water, and no way out, their good-natured friendship could prove to be the only thing that can get them out of there alive. (Comedy.)

THE NEWLYWEDS (short)

Two newlyweds check into their honeymoon rental. At first, the only thing that seems to be off is the overbearing nature of the property owner, who just won’t leave them alone. Soon enough, however, things come to light about the young couple’s past that could jeopardize their future. Namely: the couple they killed. (Horror/Thriller/Suspense.)

JADE IS TYPING (short)

A love story between two young women who struggle to communicate as well in person as they do in writing. Told in Facebook messages, emails, texts, and love notes. (Romance/Drama.)

KITCHEN EYES (short, also a play)

A boy spends the night in a cemetery on a dare, but what approaches him in the middle of the night is far more terrifying than any ghost. (Horror.)

DROPPED LINE* (short)

All hell breaks loose when an actor onstage forgets his line. (Horror/Comedy.)

KNOCK EM DEAD* (short)

An actress looking for the perfect audition monologue visits the strangest and most reclusive professor on campus. What she brings to her audition has a much greater impact than she could have anticipated. (Horror/Comedy.)

DON’T READ THE REVIEWS* (short)

Actors go ballistic when they learn that a critic who has the power to literally cancel an actor’s career is in the audience for their play. (Supernatural/Comedy.)

THE DRESS FROM HELL* (short)

A costume crew struggles to stop an evil dress from unleashing its evil spell upon the cast of an upcoming play. (Horror/Comedy.)

THE BIG BLACK COAT THAT MADE PAUL A VAMPIRE (short)

Paul struggles with only getting cast as nice guys, but everything changes when he finds a coat that literally turns him into a vampire. (Horror/Comedy.)

SERIOUSLY (Feature)

A former child star who wants to be taken seriously has disappeared from the public eye after an embarrassing incident. Now, years later, a fan of his wants to cast him in her project. There’s just one catch… he can’t find out that what they’re making is supposed to be a comedy. (Romantic Comedy.)

*These projects were specifically written for a now-abandoned web series idea I had called THE 4TH WALL, which was sort of like a TWILIGHT ZONE for theatre kids. Two episodes, YOU WERE SO GOOD and THE LIST, ended up being filmed and edited. Maybe some day the others will join them and an actual series of sorts can happen.

IN THE WORKS

These are screenplays that I’m currently working on. Some are further along than others, but they all have at least some progress made on them:

UNCLE MIKEY (Feature)

A college dropout with nowhere to go moves in with his eccentric Uncle Mikey, a delusional would-be auteur film director convinced that his numerous awards from online film festivals are a sign of his god-given talents. But while helping his uncle make a disastrous film, his nephew uncovers an intriguing story in the town that is actually worth telling. (Comedy.)

MESSAGES (Feature)

After the man she loved dies, a woman in mourning is surprised by a visit from an odd hippie friend of his who didn’t get the memo that he had passed on, but who still wants to stay at the house as he was allegedly promised. Hijinks ensue. (Comedy/Drama.)

HATE ME OR DIE (Feature)

At most high schools, it’s the cheerleaders who are popular. But at this high school, it’s the resident gothic poetess who everyone’s fighting over. When her would-be suitors start turning up dead, a new student seemingly immune to her charms becomes determined to find the supernatural cause of this obsession. (Horror/Comedy/Teen.)

TWO GUYS FROM RENO (Feature)

An adderall-fueled, Scott Pilgrim-inspired retelling of Shakespeare’s “Two Gentlemen of Verona” starts telling the tale of how college life and fragile masculinity change the dynamic of two lifelong friends, but goes off-script when the love interests decide not to play along. What follows is a tale of recognizing toxic behavior, shattering the patriarchy, and finding yourself through unlikely circumstances. (Comedy/Teen/College.)

SERIOUS ACTORS ONLY (Feature)

An aspiring filmmaker meets an experienced director and is initially excited to collaborate. But trouble arises when this new mentor starts pulling her away from her other collaborators, friends, and family. Are the lessons she’s learning worth the hardships? And when does tough instruction cross the line into abuse? (Comedy/Drama.)

UNDER THE BURGESS HOUSE (Feature)

A young girl is initially thrilled when her mother and stepfather move into an old mansion and start refurbishing it as a Bed & Breakfast. But when she starts hearing voices and seeing strange sights, the girl realizes she’s in for a terrifying journey that might be even scarier than she thinks. (Horror.)

BE NOAH FOR ME (Feature)

Five seemingly unrelated storylines interweave to explain why an actor was kidnapped and the dark fate his captors have in store for him. (Thriller/Suspense.)

WAIF (Feature)

A group of nomadic hippies discover a suicidal woman on a riverbank and revive her. Devastatingly sad and lonely, she tells them she is a lost cause, but they refuse to abandon her as the other people in her past did before. Can she find happiness, and does she ultimately deserve it? (Drama.)

F*CKED UP LOVE (Feature)

He’s a clueless stoner, she recently escaped from an abusive relationship. Their love story seemed doomed from the get-go, but neither of them could have prepared for just how doomed it got. (Romance/Comedy/Thriller.)

SLEEPERMAN (Feature)

An Irish band on tour is having a hard time. Their lead singer goes on a wild bender after discovering the manager cheated on him, their violinist comes down with a mysterious illness, and the only thing that can save them and the world is their absent-minded drummer, who is somehow able to hack into other people’s dreams. Not to mention they’re stuck in Southern Oregon till they get their bus fixed! (Comedy/Fantasy/Adventure.)

THE PILLAGING (Short)

Set in the ye olde days of yore, the women from a Celtic tribe run for their lives from the Vikings pursuing them. While one of the women manages to find a way to curse their invaders, another befriends them… but will it be too late to turn things around by the time the curse sets in? (Action/Drama/Historical Fiction.)

THE WHITE KNIGHT DIARIES (Mini-series)

This is not your mom’s dark retelling of fairy tales. In this new and improved adaptation of an old podcast of mine, a delusional paramedic who thinks of himself as a Prince Charming figure goes out of his way to rescue beautiful women who remind him of the damsels in distress he loved from bedtime stories. While he is actually saving lives, he’s far from a hero. (Drama/Fantasy/Thriller.)

FLEDGLING IDEAS

These are projects that only exist now as very basic concepts. Of all of my projects these are generally the ones I am most open to collaborating with other writers on to bring to life because roadblocks happened at some point during the process:

THE ASHLAND MOVIE. (Hey look, it’s Ashland! It’s in a movie!) A series of interweaving storylines take place in and around Ashland, including the tale of a Shakespeare actor looking for a place to smoke, a teenaged couple and a divorcing couple arguing over whose breakup is more complicated, and a person high on mushrooms trying to track down a sacred deer. (Comedy.)

WIDESPREAD. Every night, one inhabitant of a small town starts behaving erratically and wakes up with no memory of it… and sometimes doesn’t wake up at all. A detective and doctor start looking into this strange phenomenon and uncover a terrifying secret. (Horror/Thriller/Suspense.)

OUR NEW BOYFRIEND. Going through a rough patch, a couple agrees to let their daughter’s friend from college come stay with them. Neither of them are prepared for this young man’s magnetic personality and both find themselves falling in love with him. Then things get even crazier when it turns out that he has other past admirers who wills stop at nothing to get him back. (Comedy/Thriller.)

REVERENCE. A group of college students go to a winery for what looks like a fun summer internship. But rigorous studies aside, the internship turns out to be a true nightmare as they begin to feel sick and delirious. Are the winery owners trying to kill and sacrifice them as part of a dark ritual? (Horror.)

LET’S DO NATURE. Two siblings who run a nature program go out into the woods to shoot a bonus episode without the rest of the crew. When night falls and they find themselves lost in the woods, it becomes evident that a sinister presence is out there. But whether this presence is even as sinister and toxic as the siblings are to each other is what’s most disturbing. (Horror/Drama.)
