Me as Diane in “From the Dark,” giving my trademark ominous eye™

“From the Dark,” an independent horror film I acted in, is now available for rent or purchase on Amazon Prime and iScreeningRoom. This spooky feature film was filmed in and around the Oregon Caves and Chateau in Cave Junction, Butte Falls, and some other neat Oregon locations.

My hair is brown in it, so you might not recognize me, but I play DIANE, the grumpy, jealous maid who gets shnockered at a party, tells some scary stories, and things get more sinister from there. I had a blast working on it, especially since the cast and crew were all so awesome to work with! All of them.

…Do I say it? I guess I’ll say it. Yeah. This is THAT movie. And yes, it was featured in a yet-to-be-released episode of Dateline NBC, and no, I don’t know when that episode (called “A Killer Role”) will air.

If you want to know about what it was like to work with Wyn Reed, a.k.a. Tucker Reed, you can read all about it in the blog I wrote, “In Defense of a “Killer” Actress.” But I’ll let you know right now, you’re not gonna find any stories in there about her being scary, or threatening anyone on set, or anything of the kind.

And I don’t think it’s fair to call either her or her character in the film a “killer.” I will say she’s an incredible actress and her performance is one of the best things about this film.

What are some other reasons you might want to watch?

  • The CAVES!

  • The well-written and suspenseful screenplay, penned by a father-daughter team and their screenwriter friend who decided one day to make a movie, and then made it happen!

  • The Chateau and its impressive wood paneling.

  • Plus, I mean, the CAVES!

  • The comedic stylings of Dan Hanvey, Chris Doran, and their burgeoning bromance

  • Also, Danny and I have been in like 8 movies together and this is the first one in which we play characters who know each other AND are in the same scene. Proof positive that I have NOT been Danny in a wig this whole time!

  • This is a film that has caves.

  • I hear that weird chick who played Diane was ACTUALLY drunk when they filmed her scenes. And the scariest part? She didn’t even have any alcohol… Creepy, right?

  • The kickass score by Kenneth Bradley Vibert and Emily Nuckles, especially the main theme which has been stuck in my head for days.

  • It’s hard to describe, but this movie has these things in it… they’re like big rocks, but they go backwards, like, INTO the mountain?

  • What more can I say? It’s low-budget horror, my favorite genre, and it isn’t even a sequel to anything!

  • Plus, it’s an indie!

  • So what are you waiting for? Go check out…
